Any wall will have studs inside it and that's what the TV mount will be fastened to -

Tell your mom to keep in mind she may lose a lot of storage, depending upon her old console configuration. I've recently gone through this, adding a console for a LCD TV, moving that old large entertainment center to my bedroom, and getting rid of the old bedroom entertainment center, which had wider display shelves and more closed storage space. It's made it very difficult to display photos (I've already weeded them out and I still don't have enough shelf space) and I've only got two large drawers and no shelves behind doors now. I've been trying to get this taken care of for over 6 weeks and it's almost overwhelming.

She should also consider shelving for your DVD player, DVR, cable box, and gaming items... or clutter could remain a factor in her home.

You have to screw the brackets into the studs. They will not hold in the dry wall. If you have a concrete block wall you have to drill holes, with a masonry drill bit. And use anchors to secure the brackets to the wall. All that you need is available at hardware stores. And very inexpensive.
