Flat Screen TV Wall Mounting
So what is the best flat screen wall mount setup?
I keep seeing the different models, the ones that swing out, ones that go into the corner of the wall, some that can be mounted from the ceiling above your bed, these things seem like there is no end. Is there really? And what is the best flat screen wall mount? Before you even begin searching for a wall mounting setup, you are going to have to figure out where you are putting the TV, and how big it is, to determine if you can even mount it where you want to.
The reason I tell you to figure out the size of the TV is because you don’t want to be hanging a 52″ or 60″ plasma TV on the wall. It can be done yes, but this is a lot of stress, and being a carpenter, I can tell you that unless the wall mount setup is installed extremely well, your TV is going to be on the floor one day, usually with a crack through the center of the screen. This is not a fun sight to come home to by any means, and is why I strongly urge against you mounting incredibly large TVs.
For flat screens in the 26″ to 42″ though, you can easily get them mounted to the wall. A 26″ can use a corner mounting system, because the arms don’t have to be as long on the mounting system, and the smaller TVs can clear your walls properly. You may not get the position the TV much, using a corner mounting system because of the way they are secured to the wall. As long as you have your living room set, or bedroom set positioned to see the television though, you should have many problems.
Once you start getting into the bigger sizes of this range, like the 36″, 37″, and 42″ it is time to go to a flat wall mount system. Make sure that you either have this professionally installed, with a backup warranty and guarantee, or you are skilled with tools, and know enough about structure and how to get the most secure mounting. If you have any doubts about whether or not you can complete this job, please do not start it. Consult a professional. The last thing you want is to come home and find your precious TV on the floor because you couldn’t install a flat screen wall mount setup properly.
